Client Training Programs

Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP offers a number of training programs which are designed to assist businesses in ensuring that their management and staff are able to deal with today’s complex employment and labour relations environment.

  • Supervisory Training (Union)
    This program is designed to ensure that supervisors have the basic skills necessary to successfully manage employees covered by a collective agreement. This program is specifically developed around the terms of any collective agreement in place and is tailored to each client’s individual needs.
  • Supervisory Training (Non-Union)
    This program is designed to provide supervisors in a non-union setting with the appropriate skills necessary to successfully communicate with and manage employees. An optional component of this program includes an audit of current human resources policies and practices.
  • Discipline and Discharge
    This seminar is specifically designed to ensure that supervisors and managers are able to effectively manage the discipline and discharge process. Appropriate approaches with respect to a wide variety of disciplinary offences are reviewed and supervisors are provided with the basic tools necessary to ensure that a matter can be successfully litigated before administrative tribunals or the courts.
  • Human Rights in the Workplace
    This program is designed to provide supervisory staff with the tools necessary to manage diversity in the workplace. A special emphasis is placed on techniques that are designed to reduce litigation and exposure to human rights complaints.
  • Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
    This special half day program is designed for supervisors and human resources staff who are responsible for managing the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. Particular emphasis is placed on pro-active measures to prevent sexual harassment and the proper development and administration of a sexual harassment policy.
  • Labour Relations Updater
    This program is designed for human resources practitioners, in-house counsel and senior management who are actively involved with employment and labour relations matters in the workplace. Participants will be updated on all areas of labour and employment law, including the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Occupational Health and Safety in the Workplace for Managers
    This program is designed to provide managers with tools to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and to minimize exposure to charges and orders under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Special emphasis is placed on “due diligence” and how supervisory staff can ensure that they are taking all reasonable steps in the circumstances to prevent injuries in the workplace.
