Janeta Zurakowski provides strategic advice and representation to employers in all areas of labour and employment law across a full spectrum of industries.
Janeta works closely with clients to draft employment contracts and develop workplace policies in compliance with the law. She also provides employers with strategic advice on various workplace issues.
Janeta’s litigation practice focuses on wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights proceedings, and grievance arbitration. She has appeared before various levels of court, as well as administrative boards and tribunals.
She also has significant experience conducting workplace investigations, including investigations into allegations of workplace discrimination, including harassment and bullying, sexual harassment, and racism. Janeta has also conducted investigations into allegations of theft and employee misconduct.
Janeta regularly provides employers with workplace training on various workplace issues.
She has also published extensively, contributing to the Employment Litigation Manual, Employment and Labour Law Reporter, Ontario Bar Association’s Labour and Employment Section, and Lexis Practice Advisor. She also frequently presents on labour, employment, and human rights issues affecting the modern workplace.
Janeta is an active member of the Hamilton Law Association currently serving on the New Lawyers’ Subcommittee.
Prior to joining the firm, Janeta practiced with a prominent labour and employment boutique firm in Toronto.
