Mark Stone has been a partner with the firm since 1997.
Mark practises all areas of labour and employment law, representing both public and private sector employers before labour boards, arbitration boards, the courts and numerous employment-related administrative tribunals. Mark’s practice also involves providing proactive and strategic advice to employers in labour and employment matters.
Mark has acted as lead counsel in many significant collective agreement arbitrations, wrongful dismissal matters and proceedings before both the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
Mark has significant experience in collective bargaining negotiations and has acted as lead spokesperson at the bargaining table for employers in both first collective agreements and renewal agreements. Mark regularly provides collective agreement drafting advice.
Mark has extensive experience providing proactive strike advice to employers, including representing employers before the courts in obtaining injunctions in restraint of unlawful picketing. Mark also has extensive experience in cease and desist matters before the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Mark’s practice includes a significant component of litigation before the Ontario Labour Relations Board in construction industry certification matters. This also includes extensive experience in union jurisdictional disputes, related employer/sale of business matters, and construction industry grievances. Mark has extensive experience acting for both construction and non-construction employers in responding to applications for certification and unfair labour practice complaints. Mark’s practice also includes providing advice to employers in occupational health and safety matters.
