New WSIB Rate Framework: Understanding the Changes and Controlling Future Costs
On January 1, 2020, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (the “WSIB”) is replacing its current Schedule 1 employer classification system and experience rating programs with a new “Rate Framework”. Under the Rate Framework, there will be significant changes to the employer classification system. Further, the existing experience rating programs will be eliminated and replaced with prospective and fluctuating premium rates.
Understanding how your organization will be classified and how its premiums and related compensation costs are calculated are essential to controlling workers’ compensation costs. Is your organization ready?
