WSIB Claims for Chronic Mental Stress: Are you Ready to Respond?

About this topic:

As of January 1, 2018, workers will be entitled to claim benefits under the WSIB’s insurance plan for chronic mental stress arising out of, and in the course of, their employment.

Due to amendments made by Bill 127, the Stronger, Healthier Ontario Act (Budget Measures), 2017, a worker may be entitled to benefits if a “substantial work-related stressor,” including workplace bullying or harassment, was the predominant cause of his or her chronic mental stress.

Join us for this 80-minute session where you will:

  • Learn about a worker’s entitlement to chronic mental stress benefits and other changes to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act brought by Bill 127.
  • Hear about the practical challenges employers may face in dealing with WSIB claims for chronic mental stress.
  • Take away strategies to help prepare for and defend against WSIB claims for chronic mental stress.

Presenters:

Daryn Jeffries, Diane Laranja and Simon Marmur.
