Ontario’s general minimum wage has increased to $11.60 per hour as of October 1, 2017.
This general minimum wage rate applies to most employees; however, special rates apply to certain categories of workers. For instance:
- The minimum wage for students under 18 who do not work more than 28 hours per week when school is in session (or work during a school break or summer holidays) is now $10.90 per hour.
- The minimum wage rate for liquor servers has increased to $10.10 per hour.
- Hunting and fishing guides, as well as homeworker minimum wage rates have also increased.
